Hi! I’m Andy from Berkshire, England and welcome to my website about me and my travels and adventures.
I have recently turned 40 (can you believe that? I know I can’t…!) and love travelling. Have always enjoyed the journey more than the destination, although some of the destinations have been pretty cool and have met some brilliant people along the way who become good friends.
I worked for a video conference company for the last 8.5 years and was recently made redundant. It was quite a relief, as working from home there was little social interaction and I found myself becoming a bit of a hermit. Anyway, I am making the most of the opportunity by doing what I love best, I’m going travelling again but to places that I don’t think I could fully experience and appreciate in a 2 week holiday. I’ve taken the decision to let my house out for 12 months to help fund the trip.
Other than travelling I have a wide variety of interests ranging from scuba diving, canal narrowboats, hiking, gardening and snowboarding to name a few – though I did break my ribs last time I went snowboarding. I didn’t say I was any good at it… 🙂
Last time I went travelling, I headed through Africa, Asia-Pacific and South America but I was in my early 30’s and it was really the right time for me to take a career break. I was young and fit enough to enjoy it, old enough to appreciate and remember it, and financially able to do it without having to work my way or slum it every night in budget accommodation. It was perhaps the best thing I have ever done so am really looking forward to this next round the world adventure… 🙂
